A Psychedelic Journey: Healing, Truth, and Divine Alignment

From early chaos to spiritual clarity — what magic mushrooms, DMT, and ayahuasca taught me about healing and embodying light.

In a world still largely driven by fear and disconnection, more people are turning to psychedelics — not for escapism, but for healing. I’ve been walking this path for over two decades now, and what I’ve discovered is that psychedelics, when respected, offer a powerful doorway into healing trauma, realigning with truth, and experiencing divine awareness.

But it didn’t start beautifully.

The Early Chaos: 25 Grams and No Clue

My first dance with psychedelics happened in the UK, around 2002 or 2003, at a festival called Bug Jam — a Volkswagen festival of all things. I took what I now know was a heroic (and stupid) dose of psilocybin mushrooms — 25 grams — mixed into a pot noodle. Yes, really. A hot, salty pot noodle.

Within a minute, my reality exploded. My hands started “tracing” in my vision like a broken VR headset. The whole world was bending, folding, and pulsating. I felt like I could see the entire universe… and that everyone in it wanted to kill me.

It was terrifying.

I had no framework for it — no preparation, no spiritual understanding, no YouTube guides. Nothing. Just raw, unfiltered consciousness with no map. It took me hours to calm down. I spent most of that time in my red Mark II VW Golf, trying not to dissolve into madness.

And yet — that chaos planted a seed. A deep seed of truth that wouldn’t go away.

Lessons from DMT and Changa

Years later, I tried DMT and its milder cousin, changa, while living in London. DMT — the molecule found in nature and our own brains — opened something radically different.

This time, the experience wasn’t fear; it was beauty. Smoking changa with close friends in a safe space showed me how love, nature, and connection are the real language of the universe. A single house plant in the room felt like an oracle of divine truth. People’s faces glowed with light and innocence. Everything was radiant. Everything was perfect.

This wasn’t tripping. This was remembering.

Ayahuasca and the Collective Cleanse

The deeper call came through ayahuasca. I drank the vine in Holland with trusted brothers, and what followed was both horrifying and sacred.

For the first few hours, I purged emotional trauma — mine and what felt like collective humanity’s. People around me were vomiting, shaking, crying. But when we reached the other side?

It was bliss. The divine made visible. Harmony restored.

And yet, none of this was possible without surrendering. Without respecting the medicine. Without listening to the guidance of the right shamans and the timing of the soul.

Why I Stopped

Since around 2018, I’ve stopped using psychedelics entirely. Not because they were bad — quite the opposite. But I reached a point where I didn’t need them anymore. I’d integrated the lessons. I’d found my own connection to divine intelligence through my “I Am” — the part of us that knows our divine plan.

Nowadays, I do my healing through meditation, journaling, clearing work, sound, breath, cellular resonance, and other conscious modalities. Psychedelics were once keys. Now, I live in the house.

But I understand the call. If you’re new, or curious, or trying to process trauma — here’s what I suggest:

9 Tips for Starting Your Psychedelic Healing Journey (If It Calls You)

  1. Start with Microdosing.

    0.1g psilocybin → wait a few days → 0.3g → 0.5g. Never rush.

  2. Research the Source.

Know where your mushrooms come from. Know your shaman. Vet everything.

  3. Avoid Crowds.

Psychedelics are sacred. Do not take them in festivals or parties (unless that’s your integrated practice and you’re seasoned).

  4. Know Your Nervous System.

Are you hyper-sensitive? Do less. Or not at all.

  5. Be Ready to Face Yourself.

Psychedelics bring up what’s ready to heal — trauma, wounds, fears.

  6. Create a Safe Space.

Calm, quiet, loving. That’s the container.

  7. Choose Intent Over Ego.

Healing. Not escape. Not bragging rights.

  8. Use Integration Tools.

Journaling, meditation, breathwork, sharing circles — all vital after a journey.

  9. If You’re Not Called — Don’t Force It.

There are infinite ways to heal. Psychedelics are one path of many.

Final Thoughts: Psychedelics Aren’t the Path — They Point to the Path

Ultimately, psychedelics are not the destination. They are one kind of teacher. But the real journey is integrating what you learn: healing trauma, embodying truth, and aligning with your divine soul.

That’s the work we do at HeartInitiation.com — guiding people into deep, grounded healing with or without plant medicine. If you’re curious, start with the book. Or try the free guided experience.

This healing journey is not about speed. It’s about alignment. Take your time. Go gently. You are already held by something greater.
